Read all about it using their clever e-reader thingy (I was v. impressed - comes with realistic page turning noises and everything. Wowzer)..Check out the EAT! Festival coverage too (we'll be there on Northumberland Street with our delicious stall) Here's the link..

Fancy a trip out after dark on Saturday night (and I'm not talking about some trebles at Blu Bambu)? Bar crawl at The Gate not really your style? Then The Late Shows are just the thing for you culture vultures... Billed as the 'ultimate weekend of after hours culture' this nightime takeover of Newcastle & Gateshead's sights is absolutlely FOC. Over 15,000 people hit the streets during last year's events and the brand spanking new City Library had the highest number visitors of the lot.. STEWART & CO. AT THE CITY LIBRARY IN MOURNING..

This week at the City Library cafe we have some very sad news to report... Our illustrious leader Tracey is leaving us. She will be sorely missed. But fear not, the rest of your lovely library staff are all still present and correct and will be keeping the place ticking over in her absence. Steve has been hard at work in the kitchens preparing delicious treats for your taste buds and the girls on the counter are serving our customers with their usual smiles.

So, with a beautiful weekend forecast, what better time to come down and give us a visit? If it’s busy inside then the seating area outside is a peaceful oasis where you can catch the rays. Come and enjoy the food and the sunshine, and pay your respects to our lovely manager Tracey before she leaves!
P.S. If you’ve been stranded in Newcastle by Iceland’s most infamous volcano then come and visit us. It’s not quite the Costa del Sol but we do a far better cup of tea than you’d get on any Mediterranean beach!

Stewart & Co. At The City Library, 33 New Bridge Street West, Charles Avison Building, NE1 8AX 0191 277 1246 Open 7 Days A Week...

G'day mate..

Since the weather's getting nicer (most of the time) fancy some al fresco dining Ozzy style? Here at Stewart & Co. not only can we come to your house & cook up a storm in your kitchen, we can rustle up something just as tasty on your barby with delicious localy sourced meat from our own butchery. Handmade burgers & sausages washed down with some local ale sound good? Come & have a chat with our butchers beforehand & they can tailor your BBQ choices to your own recipe... So let us take care of the cooking while your friends and family sit back, relax and enjoy the sun (however briefly it might be!)...

THE GOOD FOOD PRODUCER'S GUIDE 2010 (WE'RE IN IT)

A well deserved pat on the back for Stewart & Co. Fine Food & Butchery in Jesmond - we're featured in 'The Good Food Producer's Guide 2010' by the foodie writer - and Stewart & Co. supporter - Rose Prince... It's on sale now but will be available to buy from our shop in Jesmond very soon so look out. Can't wait till then? Check out the Telegraph article below...

SPRING HAS BELATEDY SPRUNG..

Hi its Steve and Tracey from The Library,

GOOD NEWS!!! The outside furniture has eventually come out of hibernation....WOOHOO!!

As I'm writing this the sun is actually shining, and there are HAPPY CUSTOMERS basking in the spring sunshine. (Well apart from the guy eating the Greggs Pasty...Bloody cheek - should've gone to Stewart & Co. ) Honestly, it makes such a difference to the alfresco dining if you have a delicious home cooked meal from us...

Hope to see you all soon..Tracey & Steve

PS. As its the Easter Holidays why not bring the kids along to visit the Library and after they have driven you mad in the kiddies section, come and join us for a relaxing cuppa and a homemade cake...

TEAPIGS TASTING - SATURDAY 10TH APRIL

Alex from Teapigs (who make those posh silk teabags - green tea with mints my fave) is coming to Stewart & Co. Jesmond on Saturday to do a Matcha Green Tea tasting...This super duper tea has 137 x more antioxidants than standard green tea infused anapparently 70 x more than orange juice & 9 x the beta carotene level of spinach. How clever...maybe theres no need for that gym membership after all...

Sounds like the perfect weekend hangover cure to me so come down 11am-1pm for a cuppa - your banging head will thank you for it... If you can't make it, Matcha Green Tea is on sale in our Jesmond store plus enjoy the rest of the Teapigs selection in all 3 outlets...

Happy tea drinking x
